Comedy motor vehicle for Lawrence gives you pretty much what you anticipate, albeit it could have signified a lot more if a more superior, more renowned actress had played the monarch. He was fired from the conservative law firm he worked for because there was fear of contracting the disease from him. As he battles to live on, he chooses to sue the law firm, to help further the cause of other aids victims. His originally homophobic lawyer, fights through his prejudice to fight for this cause.
His Kind of Woman: Mitchum blindly goes to Mexico for a payoff of 50 grand, finds he's the eventually-to-be-lifeless chump whose identity can help deported gangster Burr re-enter the nation. Cult film is overlong, although its spoofing of he-gentleman heroics predates the more rejoiced BEAT THE DEVIL by 3 years; Cost is humorous as a ham performer. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jane Russell, Vincent Cost, Tim Holt,Raymond Burr, Charles McGraw, and Jim Backus. (120 minutes, 1951)
