Frozen Assets: Low-octane joke trifle, in which Bernsen is moved to a new bank only to find it's a sperm bank (get it?). He meets censored biologist Long and after a lot of strength wisecracks they find that they are drawn to each other. Cast includes Shelley Long, Corbin Bernsen, Larry Miller, Dody Goodman, Matt Clark, Paul Sand, Teri Copley, Gloria Camden, and Gerrit Graham. (96 minutes, 1992)
Hoosiers: Hackman gets a last chance job coaching a very small Indiana high school basketball team in the 1950s, and faces the duel tests of bringing the team to the state final and personal redemption. This story is loosley based on an actual team from a small town in Indiana that played for the state title. Cast includes Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey, Dennis Hopper, Sheb Wooley, Fern Parsons, Brad Boyle, Steve Hollar, Brad Long, and David Neidorf. (114 minutes, 1986)
Sense and Sensibility: Lucid, modern-day look at Jane Austen's novel in reference to 2 recently impoverished siblings one impulsive and flirtatious, the other persistently hindered and made to suppress her sensations of love. Impeccably cast and acted, a vigorous and moving film dealing with how dissimilar identities handled them in early 19th-century England. Thompson won an Oscar for Best Screenplay Adaptation.
