Sharp Outlines Of A Cross Section Of Silver Screen Movies

By Freddie Moon

We have some films reviewed in the following paragraphs. Here are some ways to find movie download sites. A good movie download search would use phrases such as "Download DVD Movies", "Download Tv Shows", and "New Movie Rental".

The Thief of Bagdad: An extraordinary fantasy of local boy Sabu outdoing the sinister sorcerer Veidt in Arabian Days. The thief of Bagdad is a myth with remarkable resiliency. Cast includes Ludwig Berger, Tim Whelan, Michael Powell, Sabu, John Justin, Conrad Veidt, Rex Ingram, and Mary Morris. (106 minutes, 1940)

Red Sorghum: Evocative, beautifully filmed drama, black comedy, kid story, fable which journals a most untraditional union between a set of rural lovers throughout the 1920s. The years pass, the next year shows up, and with it materialize Japanese invaders. Cast includes Gong Li, Jiang Wen, Liu Ji, Teng Rijun, and Qian Ming. (91 minutes, 1987)

Airheads: 3 metal heads with toy guns reluctantly take a music station hostage because they want to get air time for their one and only demo tape. Not the most difficult subject to satirize, although the script is weak anyway. A somewhat vigorous direction and compact running time help a tad. (91 minutes, 1994)

Sugarbaby: Its love at first sight for fat mortuary attendant Sagebrecht and subway train driver Swig in this droll romantic satire. Actors and tale are off beat, the avant-garde lighting fails, and the camcorder movements by cinematographer Johanna Heer are irritating. Cast includes Marianne Sagebrecht and Eisi Swig. (87 minutes, 1985)

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: A typical venture spectacle has Ford in fine form and Connery providing extra panache as Indy's archaeologist dad, whose bizarre disappearance (when looking for the Holy Grail) sets the tale in motion. This intentionally old fashioned Saturday matinee has everything money can buy, however on no account seriously creates a sense of marvel and enthusiasm. A certain advancement over the second Indiana Jones episode it still bears the mark of one too many (as is the case in most sequels) . Cast includes Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Denholm Elliott, Alison Doody, John Rhys-Davies, Julian Glover, River Phoenix, Michael Byrne, and Alex Hyde-White. (127 minutes, 1989)

The Facts of Life: An advanced comedy with Bob and Lucy leaving their partners for an interlude together. The 2 megastars make a team worth observing. Cast includes Bob Wish, Lucille Ball, Ruth Hussey, and Don DeFore. (103 minutes, 1960)

Life of Brian: The Monty Python religious parable can possibly hurt every religious denomination that exists, although it shouldn't. The tale of a guy whose life resemblances Christ is the funniest and most maintained film from Britain's poor boys. Cast includes Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin. (93 minutes, 1979)

The Shadow: Lamont Cranston, having lived a life of ethical degradation, is "reborn" as a single minded crime fighter with the talent to haze gentlemen's minds. This adaptation of the venerable mush novels and cherished radio shows (carried to the theaters before in the late 1930s and in a 1940 series) comes frustratingly close to succeeding, although flounders. Cranston is both inscrutable and boring. Incredible production layout and wonderful outcomes get lost in a film that keeps the viewer at Ann's magnitude all the way through. What a waste of an awesome supporting cast! Cast includes Alec Baldwin, John Lone, Penelope Ann Miller, Peter Boyle, Ian McKellen, Tim Curry, Jonathan Winters, and Sab Shimono. (105 minutes, 1994)

The Egyptian: A ponderous, often accidentally ludicrous biblical times soap style film with Purdom cast as the tender, truth seeking title personality, set in old Egypt. Darvi's behavior as a femme fatale is humorously terrible. Cast includes Jean Simmons, Victor Mature, Gene Tiemey, Michael Wilding, Bella Darvi, Peter Ustinov, Edmund Purdom, Judith Evelyn, Henry Daniell, John Carradine, and Tommy Rettig. (140 minutes, 1954)

This short list is an example of the variety of films you can find online that you can download. To learn more about movie download sites search "Online Movies Rentals" or "Movie Trailer Downloads". If neither of those work use "Movies Downloads". - 18418
