A Guitar Lesson On How To easily Learn All The Notes On The Guitar
Mike here from KillerGuitarTips.com
Hi guys... This week I have something for all you beginners out there! As a new guitar player striving to become a great player you will need to "eventually" learn every note on the guitar fret board!
There is no need to jump up and down with frustration just yet as I know how daunting this may seem, as there is a quite simple and easy way to learn all the notes on the fret broard. It's a common myth that it is really hard to learn but only when you know the easy way around it.
So let's have a look...
In total there are twelve musical notes using the letters A B C D E F & G and the symbols # (sharp) or b (flat) to name them.
Fist off you have to remember that all the letters are followed by a #(sharp) or b(flat) EXCEPT B and E.
For now we will try to keep things really simple and concentrate on using just the sharps (#) for now!
So if we take the fifth string and play it open the note is A (that's why I chose the fifth string it's the start of the alphabet!!!). Now the open string is A the 1st fret is A# the 2nd fret is B the 3rd C (remember there is no # after B) the 4th is C# so the fifth is D......
Carry on up the neck (remember there is no # after E) when you reach the twelfth fret you will be back at A again and the whole process starts again... Try practising this on every string, eventually you will be able to plop your finger on any note and be able to say what note that is instantly...
You will find this quite tedious at first but know one ever got anything worthwhile without a little work! You'll have to trust me on this one as I know it pays off big time later on!
I have two tips for you this week, so following on from the last one we have another tip also geared to all you beginners out there...
I know there hasn't been many tips for you guys as beginners but remember in the full audio/video program there is a secret structured progression from absolute beginner through to killer guitar player in the shortest possible time. So, don't despair if you feel these tips are a little tool much for you, why not subscribe to my free tips and tricks by going to www.killerguitartips.com and I will be send you a free tip each week and also the release date for this awesome audio/video program that will transform your guitar playing - GUARANTEED!
So let's get going with another tip for beginners...
You are no doubt aware that you have six strings on your guitar. The first string is the thinest and the sixth string is the thickest. If you playa a string without holding it down against the fret we call this playing the string open. This means we obviously have six open strings and each string should be tuned to a note. On a guitar standard tuning of open strings is as follows:-
6th string is E 5th string is A 4th string is D 3rd string is G 2nd string is B 1st string is E
You must memorise the notes of these open strings as it is essential to the progress of your guitar playing in the future. You need to know these off by heart.
I hope you find these tips I am giving you each week useful and I will catch up with you next week.
Enjoy,
Cheers
