See An Excellent Motion Picture Today, Try Out These Good Film Possibilities

By Deborah Glenn

Motion pictures are great entertainment but they can also be very favorable for our mental health. Motion pictures permit us to take some time to slow down and escape from our day after day problems and anxieties. We are able to let go of our day after day cares as we get caught up in the lives we are watching on film.

The Choirboys - Allegedly joke adventures of LA. Cops who improve work pressures by raunchy doings. This is a Crude, foul-minded, heavy handed movie from story by Joseph Wambaugh, who disavowed this dud. Cast includes Charles Durning, Louis Gossett, Jr., Perry Baron, Clyde Kusatsu, Stephen Macht, Tim McIntire, Randy Quaid, Don Stroud, and James Woods. (119 minutes, 1977)

Seaside Players - Cast includes John Leyton, Mike Same, Freddie and The Dreamers, Ron Moody, and Liz Fraser. Group of adolescents performing at seaside resort organize for a talent competition which is to be the highlight of the summer season. (94 minutes, 1965)

The Manchurian Candidate - A modern day rendering of the 1962 movie. Decorated war hero Raymond Shaw is now in place to become the Vice President of the US. His Mother, Senator Eleanor Shaw is pulling all the political strings. A problem is developing for her plans. Major Bennett Marco, a member of Raymond's platoon is beginning to mistrust the events of the day Raymond saved the platoon. Marco is battling an uphill battle, but can't resist the troublesome feeling that something is not right.

South Sea Women - Depressing island story of love and dishonesty with Cadet Lancaster kindling the fire with Mayo. Cast includes Burt Lancaster, Virginia Mayo, Chuck Connors, Arthur Guards, and Paul Burke. (99 minutes, 1953)

Down to You - Prinze and Stiles uselessly try to buddy us up by talking directly into the camcorder, clarifying how their once pleasant college romance went bust (albeit not as bust as the film). In someway, this motion picture manages to find room for subplots in reference to a Television show and a friend who has a try as an adult-film entrepreneur with a sort of bohemian familiar porn actress. Cast includes Freddie Prinze, Jr., Julia Stiles, Shawn Hatosy, Selma Blair, Zak Orth, Ashton Kutcher, Rosario Dawson, Henry Winkler, and Lucie Amaz. (91 minutes, 2000)

The Gene Krupa Story - Humdrum rendition of awesome jazz drummer's life, his ups and downs, and his fight with pill dependency Cast includes Don Weis, Sal Mineo, Susan Kohner, James Darren, Susan Oliver, Yvonne Craig, Lawrence Dobkin, Red Nichols, and Buddy Lester. (101 minutes, 1959)

Danny Boy - Ambitious although arrogant, inexorably dull melodrama of sax player Rea, who trades his sax for a gun after observing a triple killing. This was Jordan's directorial introduction, which he in addition did the screenplay. He and leading guy Rea later reteamed for The Weeping Game. (92 minutes, 1982)

MGM's The Big Parade of Comedy - Fifty of the best megastars of all time emerge in this collection, however too briefly. Cast includes Laurel and Hardy, Keaton, Gable, Robert BencWey, Jean Harlow, and Malion Davies, (90 minutes, 1964) - 18418
