Learn How to The Piano in Four Easy Ways

By Michael Mickey Charles

1.Start young; the absolute best way to learn how to play the piano is to start out at a young age. There is a reason why children seem to grasp this instrument easier than adults; children have two specific characteristics that set them apart from any adults who wish to learn how to play the piano. First, they love to learn. As people get older, they forget what it is like to learn something completely new and can be easily frustrated by the amount of time needed to do so. Adults forget that learning is sometimes a long process, and lose their general desire to achieve a new skill or become distracted by life's responsibilities. Where as children are still in a stage in life where every day involves a new task, lesson or discovery and are able to simply enjoy themselves.

2. Play in a band. Joining a band of other beginners is good. It helps create a love for the instrument and this makes learning easier and more rewarding. Joining a band allows you to be with people who are also enjoying learning. This deepens your passion and commitment to learn.

3. Stick with it. In some musical circles the piano is referred to as "the king of instruments" and it is a suitable name to be sure. The piano can take years to learn and even longer to master. Even when a piano player may feel as though they've reached the full potential of the instrument, they soon find out that they have simply scraped the surface. The piano is one of very few instruments? that spans across almost all musical styles and genres. This makes it next to impossible for even the most educated and accomplished musician to ever know the full capabilities of this instrument.

4. Listen to others. One of the best ways to learn to play any instrument is to listen to the music of other accomplished musicians. Learning to play is, like music, largely a hearing experience. As a beginner learning to play and listening to other pianists enables one to hear the endless styles of piano music as well as the infinite capabilities associated to various types and models of pianos. - 18418
