Noel Gallagher And His Epiphone Supernova Guitar

By Peter Davison

Nothing screams rock god much more than a guitar that honors the guitarists personal name and brand of one of the greatest bands or musicians. Custom designed signature models of guitars are a very important part of any guitar manufacturers range and gives credibility and influence from the musicians of now and yesteryear that use and recommend their guitars. It is also an important part of the overall marketing strategy of the manufacturer - but it is a perfect way of selling more products.

Made in Korea, the Epiphone Supernova is the signature guitar of Noel Gallagher of the pop band Oasis - one of the biggest, classic, problematic and greatest bands of the last twenty years. Noel is the songwriter and brains behind Oasis, whist his brother Liam Gallagher is the larger than life front man, never out of the eye of the paparazzi and famous for his loud manner, fighting and over the top star credentials. Oasis are known for classic tracks such as Don't look back in anger and Live Forever and their brand of BritPop and acoustic and electric stands the ravages of time and is perfectly influential and relevant to todays upcoming stars. Oasis are more grown up now and not as quite as popular, they are still producing great albums under the direction of Noel - who has said he plans to release his solo album in the future.

The 1995 Epiphone Supernova is a specially designed version of the Epiphone Sheraton, another one of Epiphones more popular guitars. Although, the Supernova you and I can purchase currently is not the same one as the type used by Noel though. During the promotion of the Oasis album, Whats The Story Morning Glory, Oasis were pictured modelling a specially made Epiphone Sheraton covered with the union jack logo. Designed to represent that particular guitar, the public version of this model does have a different shape and a few crucial amendments such as featuring different models of pickup's, Alnico 57s rather than mini humbucker pickups as featured on the original. The originating instrument played by Noel is now displayed in the O2 arena in the UK as part of the British Music Experience exhibition.

The %KEYWORD1% is no longer manufactured but was available in several different colors including the infamous signed union jack model requested by Noel. The others were blue to represent the Manchester City football team that Noel supports, Cherry Red and a rare Ebony Black model. The guitar features large block fret markers, a slim, long scale neck, a rose wood fretboard, a vintage tremolo, a hollow body which makes it light to use and much easier to play. The pick guard has Noel's signature on and also has the Epiphone brand logo.

The %KEYWORD1% produces clear, warm tones that are practical for blues or rock. Although it sounds a little like a more expensive Gibson model, the %KEYWORD1% will give you the results you need. The manufacturing quality is excellent and should be without major defects.

The %KEYWORD1% is well rounded guitar and well worth spending your money on - even more so if you also enjoy Noel Gallagher and Oasis! - 18418
