The Good the Bad and the Ugly: The third and the best of Leone's man with no name trilogy, set throughout Civil War. 3 very different people look for Confederate government treasure chest, each know only a piece to the puzzle of the location of this treasure. Nutcracker the Motion Picture: Much of this rendition of The Nutcracker, acted by the Pacific Northwest Ballet, is like a music video with rapid cutting and close-ups of legs, faces, and elbows. This is extremely irritating. However the Tchaikovsky music is, obviously, amazing, as are Maurice Sendak's sets and costumes. Cast includes Hugh Bigney, Vanessa Sharp Patricia Barker, Plod Walthall, Russell Burnett, and the voice of Julie Harris. (89 minutes, 1986)
Ruby's Fantasy: Smooth although typical drive-in fare in regards to a shell-shocked Vietnam vet who finds himself the object of an enormous manhunt in a small Alabama town. It is the same elementary tale as First Blood which came later. Cast includes Linda Blair, Ben Johnson, Matt Clark, and Richard Famsworth. (91 minutes, 1982)
Heart like a Wheel: A well made yet curiously uninspiring bio of race-car driver Shirley Muldowney. Cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Leo Rossi, Hoyt Axton, Bill McKinney, Anthony Edwards, Dean Paul Martin, Paul Bartel, Dick Miller, and Terence Knox. (113 minutes, 1983)
The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe: This is a witty re-creation of Lily Tomlin's 1985 one female Broadway show. Her characterizations run the gamut from box woman to juvenile delinquent to New Age Lady, with much of the material in a feminist vein. The show stars Lily Tomlin obviously. (120 minutes, 1991)
Man of Iron: The somber account of Germi, a railroad architect, whose life takes a catastrophic turn, influencing his entire family. Cast includes Pietro Germi, Luisa Della Noce, Sylva Kascina, and Carla Giuffre. (116 minutes, 1956)
Jack London: Hokey, episodic "biography" of famed author invests too much time maligning Japanese which was assumed to give topical slope to this period drama in 1943. Cast includes Michael O'Shea, Susan Hayward, Osa Massen, Harry Davenport, Frank Craven, and Virginia Mayo. (94 minutes, 1943)
Belle of the Yukon: A little musical of bar owner Scott going straight at request of his gal (Lee). The film is fast paced but very forgettable. Cast includes Randolph -Scott, Gypsy Rose Lee, Bob Burns, Dinah Beach, Charles Winninger, William Marshall, Guinn "Gigantic - Boy" Williams, and Robert Armstrong, (84 minutes, 1944)
Alice Sweet Alice: For profit spacecraft unwittingly takes on an extraterrestrial being that wreaks ruthless chaos on the team. This space age terror film reverts to the 1950?s style, although unfolds at a determinate pace, populates the tale with fascinating, vibrant characters, and plants its good scenes very nicely. Cast includes Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Harry Dean Stanton, Yaphet Kotto, and Veronica Cartwright. (117 minutes, 1979)
