9/9/9: The Day All Beatles Fans Should Buy The New Beatles Box Sets
If you already own all of The Beatles albums on CD (like I do) then I can understand thinking that it's unnecessary to buy them all again just because they have been remastered.
But you should really note that these new Beatles CDs are not really like the Beatles CDs you own now. They have been remastered for superior sound unlike anything that's been heard before.
The difference between the 1987 CDs (1987 is when The Beatles music was first released on CD) and the CDs included in The new Beatles Mono Box Set is obvious. This is the first time that the original mono mixes of The Beatles albums are on CD.
These mono mixes should be of great interest to any real Beatles fan because these are the mixes that The Beatles originally intended for their fans to hear back in the 1960s.
Why? Because for most of the 1960s mono was the standard and stereo was considered by many to just be a new passing fad. I know that's hard for us to believe today, but it's true. Because of that, The Beatles spent much more time working on the mono mixes than they did on the stereo mixes.
In the '60s the mono mixes were definitely considered to be the "real version" of The Beatles albums. And even since the stereo mixes have moved to prominence there have been many who have claimed that the mono mixes sound better.
So that explains the importance of the mono box set, but what about the stereo box set? Don't we already have The Beatles albums in stereo on CD? Yes we do, but these are newly remastered.
That means that these new stereo CDs sound much better than the CDs first released in 1987. They will allow listeners to hear new details in The Beatles music that have been hidden for many years! - 18418
