2009: Remastered Beatles in Stereo Box Set
The Beatles in Stereo Remastered Box Set was made available on 9/9/9 it immediately became the standard for The Beatles classic albums.
These remastered versions sound far better than the old discs from the late 80s. When when I compare these new remasters to the old discs it's like the older discs are under a pile of wet towels while the new CDs sound crystal clear so that all of the instrumentation and vocals push through the mixes like never before.
The Beatles Stereo Remastered CD Box Set isn't the only Beatles box set released in September of '09 but it is the most popular because it can be enjoyed by the widest range of Beatles fans. The Remastered Beatles Mono Box Set is excellent too but it appeals mostly to Beatles purists who need to listen to the original mono mixes (because the mono mixes are what the band themselves worked on) than to the average music fan. While I will agree with the "purists" that there are some songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (especially quite a few of the pre 1967 recordings) all things considered I believe the stereo CD box set does sound best.
The wonderful thing about The Beatles in Stereo Remastered CD Set is that it allows you to get The Beatles entire 60s discography with just one order and considering the high quality of almost all of their LPs, it makes the most sense to get al of the albums at one time instead of picking up some and then getting more later.
Along with the great ground breaking music included in this box set there are also some really cool visual elements, the- mini documentary (for each studio album) DVD is the most obvious. Along with the DVD there are extended liner notes for every album (there is some good information in these notes, particularly for new Beatles fans) and some interesting previously unpublished pictures.
I'm such a big Beatles lover that I've bought (or I plan on buying) The Beatles Stereo Box, The Beatles in Mono Box Set, The Beatles USB Memory Stick, and The Beatles Rock Band Video Game. But if I had to pick only one of these things, it would have to be the stereo box set because it is the best hear their legendary music and after all, it's the music that is the most important. - 18418
