Since 1989, John Grisham has been a preferred American novelist. Focusing customarily on legal fiction, his books have sold over 250 million copies worldwide. Grisham's very first novel, and some may say his finest book, was "A Time To Kill". This storyline was made into a motion picture in 1996 and it introduced an up and coming new actor in the lead character, Matthew McConaughey. It also starred Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. Also from the year 1996 was "The Chamber" starring Chris O'Donnell, Gene Hackman and Faye Dunaway.

Matt Damon took the lead role in "The Rainmaker" in 1997. He played a brand new attorney who takes on a authoritative insurance company on behalf of a boy turned down for medical treatment. In 1998, "The Gingerbread Man" starring Kenneth Branagh and Robert Downey, Jr. came out. This is the only Grisham film that you will not be able to find as a novel because it came from an non published manuscript.

Of the 4 non-legal fiction stories by Grisham, 2 have been made into movies, "A Painted House" in 2003 and the holiday favorite, "Christmas with the Kranks" starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis and adapted from the story "Skipping Christmas".

In 2003, "The Runaway Jury" came out, starring Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack and Rachel Weisz. "The Associate", which was just released in January 2009, is intended to be a movie release in the year 2012.

With 22 stories out and an additional intended for November 2009, 10 films and one more considered for 2012, he has never failed to entertain us.
