Diaphragm Singing Can Help You Achieve A Great Singing Voice

The diaphragm is the system of muscles connecting your ribs at the lower level and surround the lungs. The system enables any human being to inhale. The exhaling part happens from the abdomen. When you exhale, the muscles of the diaphragm are the ones controlling how much air you breath out from the lungs.

Using muscles in breathing in and out air is necessary in diaphragm singing. This is because breathing out is just like singing but without the sound. The sound that is being created by the person performing the action.

Here is a test to try. Inhale, then exhale sharply while trying to sing. In another exercise inhale, then exhale slowly while trying to sing. There is a big difference between the two examples, because exhaling too quickly causes air to escape as well, reducing the breath needed for proper diaphragm singing and timbre.

Keep in mind that when doing the exercises for breathing, just begin to add your sound of singing while breathing out, after you have pushed the stomach out when breathing in. This will result to a richer, stronger and clearer sound to your singing voice because you are expanded your lungs and rib cage when you do diaphragm singing. Now, if not done correctly, there would be too much pressure on your diaphragm which will cause your singing voice to sound tight. Just think of it as how you let air out of a balloon, a little at a time.

Yawning or opening the throat is one way to help you with your diaphragm singing. This is because the tightness of the throat is lessened, if not eliminated. Your voice may sound pitchy if your throat is not open when you are singing. There are many talented singers that still commit this mistake. They, of course, can correct this by proper vocal training.

In a nutshell, the key to great singing voice is to learn how to control your diaphragm. You can do so by strengthening your muscles with proper breathing exercises. If you know how to do this, you're on your way to achieve the singing voice that everyone would want to hear.
