Bring Me The Horizon Bio
Borrowing a quote from Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean,Bring Me The Horizon is not a fictional character, by any means. Different from your average run-of-the-mill death-core band, they formed their own record company in 2005, Thirty Days of Night, when they released their debut single.
Members of the Band Since Bring Me the Horizon formed in 2004, they lost Curtis Ward, the previous rhythm guitar player in March of 2009, but the rest of the musicians from Sheffield, Yorkshire still remain with the band. Lead vocalist is Oliver Sykes, lead guitarist is Lee Malia, bass guitarist is Matt Kean with Matt Nicholls still on drums.
The band has had its share of controversy during its young life. Sykes was charged with common assault based on a female fan's allegations. The charges were later dismissed due to lack of evidence although it should be noted that Sykes maintained his innocence.
During a tour with the Architects, a progressive metalcore band from Brighton, Bring Me the Horizon's Sykes was filmed being subjected to violent behavior by Sam Carter of the Architects. It was a viral hit in YouTube, which generated intense hate mail for Carter although the whole video was done as a staged scene to relieve boredom on the road by both parties. Discography sales appears to be keeping up with the sales of the band's three albums, of which the titles, date of release, number of songs, and chart peaks are as follows:
Recording History: While the band's three albums enjoyed chart peaks, Bring Me The Horizon merch sales appears to be keeping up. The statistics on the albums are as follows: Released in 2004, with four tracks and topping 41 on charts in the United Kingdom, This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was For, was the first release.
In 2006, Count Your Blessings made it to 93 on the UK charts with 11 songs.
The 2008 release of Suicide Season, included10 tracks, downloadable wallpapers and two music videos.
While the first album was first released under the Thirty Days of Night label originally, all three were released under Visible Noise. The band is under contract with Visible Noise in the UK, Epitaph Records in the U.S. and in Australia, the contract is with Shock Records. Bring Me The Horizon merchandise sales should enjoy a wider appeal and better sales with a three continental exposure.
Type of Music: The death-core movement is a blend of death metal and metal core and that best describes Bring Me the Horizon's musical genre. Characterized by muted riffing and dissonance of metal core, along with growling and scream vocals, The Red Chord, Norma Jean and other American metal-core acts were their inspiration. They are different than other death core bands because of their characteristic immense vocals, massive riffs, shredding solos, erratic time signatures, blistering percussion and tempo changes.
To further cement its reputation, and maybe to increase the sales of the Bring Me The Horizon merch, the band has achieved awards like the Kerrang!'s Award for Best British Newcomer (2006) and nominated for Award for Best British Band (2008). Truly, with Bring Me the Horizon's solid direction and songwriting focus, the band may yet join the halls of metal legends. - 18418
