What Is The Best Way To Start Learning The Guitar?

By Mike Wong

If you love entertaining, you will throughly enjoy trying to play the guitar. There's nothing better than performing in front of your friends and family by playing some popular songs. Unfortunately, it is not easy to learn guitar for beginners especially if you don't have anyone to teach you. It takes time to figure out how to play the guitar, and if you are impatient, you may quit before you are able to play anything worthwhile.

To be successful guitar player, you need to start with the basics. First off, your guitar needs to be in tune, otherwise every note you play will sound terrible. If you don't tune your guitar consistently, your strings will become stretched and sound distorted. The standard tuning for a guitar is E-A-D-G-B-E. While there are other tuning you can use, it is a good idea learn this one first.

Once your guitar is in tune, you can start playing some notes with it. To play a note, take one of the strings, and press down on it on one of the frets with one finger, and pluck at the string with your other hand. Play around and do the same thing with different frets on the same string. Congrats, you can now play different notes with your guitar.

With this new found ability to play notes on your guitar, the next step is to learn to play some basic chords. Looking at a standard guitar chord chart, find a few simple chords to try and play. It will take some time to train your fingers to play chords properly, but don't get frustrated. You will get the hang of how to play them, and eventually you should be able to go back and forth between a few different chords at once.

After you have gotten your chords down, try to find some easy guitar songs to learn. Nothing will get you more excited about playing the guitar than being figuring out how to play your first song. For this, you should find some guitar tabs to play. Guitar tabs allow you to play songs without the ability to read sheet music and you can find guitar tabs for almost any song out there. The tabs are a simple diagram that displays the 6 strings of the guitar along with numbers that represent the fret you should hold down for each note. Just pick a simple guitar tab to try and practice it until it becomes natural for you to play. Don't get frustrated, as it will take you some time to master it. Although there is still much to learn, you are now on your way to mastering the guitar. - 18418

9/9/9: The Day All Beatles Fans Should Buy The New Beatles Box Sets

By Laurence Henry Hanson

If you already own all of The Beatles albums on CD (like I do) then I can understand thinking that it's unnecessary to buy them all again just because they have been remastered.

But you should really note that these new Beatles CDs are not really like the Beatles CDs you own now. They have been remastered for superior sound unlike anything that's been heard before.

The difference between the 1987 CDs (1987 is when The Beatles music was first released on CD) and the CDs included in The new Beatles Mono Box Set is obvious. This is the first time that the original mono mixes of The Beatles albums are on CD.

These mono mixes should be of great interest to any real Beatles fan because these are the mixes that The Beatles originally intended for their fans to hear back in the 1960s.

Why? Because for most of the 1960s mono was the standard and stereo was considered by many to just be a new passing fad. I know that's hard for us to believe today, but it's true. Because of that, The Beatles spent much more time working on the mono mixes than they did on the stereo mixes.

In the '60s the mono mixes were definitely considered to be the "real version" of The Beatles albums. And even since the stereo mixes have moved to prominence there have been many who have claimed that the mono mixes sound better.

So that explains the importance of the mono box set, but what about the stereo box set? Don't we already have The Beatles albums in stereo on CD? Yes we do, but these are newly remastered.

That means that these new stereo CDs sound much better than the CDs first released in 1987. They will allow listeners to hear new details in The Beatles music that have been hidden for many years! - 18418

The Long And Celebrated Story Of The Saxophone

By Jim Samposzi

The saxophone, or sax, is a vibrant and important instrument born to the woodwind group of instruments. The sax is typically made of brass and is standard for an orchestra, jazz band, or other musical group. The saxophone goes as far back as jazz and big band. But the saxophone has been a key instrument for blues and more importantly, modern rock. This magnificent instrument has also been big for military bands and marching bands.

The saxophone is a complex brass instrument that is made up of the following components:

Brass stock/horn

Single-reed mouthpiece

Tone holes (20-30)

Speaker holes

Keys (or pad cups)

Spit Valve

The pieces of this instrument have been developed over the years to better sounds by engineering and testing. The mouthpiece, as an example, has been produced by different materials like: gold, silver, rubber, glass, wood, porcelain, crystal, or bone. Manufacturers over the years have tried a multitude of different things to make the sound clearer, brighter, and crisper.

Saxophones have come a long way since their invention by Adolphe Sax in 1841. Sax was headstrong to develop an instrument that would cover the pitch between all other woodwinds and brass instruments. He was very successful in his endeavors and the saxophone became very popular in orchestras of the late 19th century. For military ensembles, the sax worked perfectly when set in a E and B pitch. Also, the saxophone was made to create the C and F sounds for an orchestra. Later, the saxophone was key in jazz music and was improved upon to produce pitches of all levels (A, B, C, G, F, and E).

Needless to say, Adolphe Sax's invention reached a patent expiration in 1866 which prompted manufacturing of new saxophones by many manufacturers. Later, in the 1950's, a gentleman by the name of M. Houvenaghel of Western Europe, introduced a special type of saxophones which had a single-tone key structure which helped the musician to control octaves with one thumb; this arrangement stuck with the sax and was used ongoing in sax production. Other methods were tested and tried but this one-thumb control remained a permanent fixture to the sax.

In modern times, the saxophone is most common in rock, jazz, and armed forces bands. The sax, today, is crafted of either brass or bronze and differ in cost and usability. Preferences are debated among popular musicians of jazz and funk; a lot of jazz professionals like mouthpieces with a shorter chamber due to the ability to produce a high baffle, louder, and richer melody. Other classical players appreciate a larger chamber because of the simpler, duller sound. Whatever it is used for, the saxophone is a great instrument to all kinds of music. From inception to advancement, the sax has been improved upon and is thought to be the most important component jazz and funk. - 18418

Singing Tips and Performance For Karaoke

By Mandy Long

Know your songs - Discover the tune, the words, and commit the actions you are going to use. It is also really essential to learn and acknowledge exactly where to come in at the start of the song.

Sleep - Get lots of sleep the night before you perform.

Singing - Ease your voice on the day of your public presentation but make sure you warm it up properly before you perform.

Eating - Make sure that you don't drink fizzy drinks or ice drinks before you sing. Same goes with milk, yoghurt, cream, ice cream, cheese etc. This is not at all advising that you should avoid consuming these foods altogether. Just be aware that when you have to perform certain foods can intervene with your singing. It is a superb idea to eat a couple of hours before you have to perform in order to permit the food to digest. It is no fun trying to sing on a whole stomach. Some people wait until after they perform to eat, but I wouldn't suggest this. First reason is that you need the vitality to be able to sing well. I have also found that it's better to eat before you sing because it will help to keep your anxiousness at a more workable level. If you don't eat you will become even more stressed and incapable to control the anxiousness.

Breathing - Deep ventilation is advised to facilitate you with performance anxiety. The more you sing the simpler it gets. Nevertheless, this does not happen with everyone. Some people continue to struggle with anxiety. The important thing you require to remember is to never give up. Don't let the fear stop you from doing what you enjoy.

Dress to impress - When you are going to perform make sure that you dress suitably. It is advisable to be over dressed than under dressed.

Make up - Stage lights can make a person look washed out or really sick. So a bit of color will help you to avoid this. Age appropriate make up please!

Hair - Make it look extraordinary!

Warm up your voice before you sing - Do your vocal workouts, breathing and warm ups.

Arrive on time - You could get disqualified or a replacment might be found if you are late.

Smile - As soon as you walk on stage you have begun your performance. Put your shoulders back and smile confidently.

Enjoy yourself - Individuals will relish your performance more if you are committed in what you are singing.

Mistakes - If you happen to make a mistake act as though nothing encountered and keep working. Don't say sorry, whoops, wind your eyeballs or begin laughing. Most individuals won't have a hint that you have made a slip.

Know and convey the content of the song - During performance it is very fundamental to pass along the substance or story behind the song. Dont just stand like a statue. Learn about your character. Practise this at home when you sing your songs. If you do not rehearse beforehand you will not be able to make it materialize on the day of your performance.

Applause - Stand and accept the applause as it's being given and then walk off the stage. Always make sure that you hold back until the music ends before you depart. Remember that walking on and off stage are both fundamental parts of your performance.

Reward yourself - After singing try not to recollect about the negatives. A performance is rarely perfect in every way. Don't allow faults or disappointments halt you from singing once again. A individual who never produces any mistakes doesn't do anything. - 18418
